Oh Suzanna...

Becky's rendition:

Oh Suzanna
don't you cry for me,
I come with a
band-aid on my knee.

video

Not the "right" words, and she left out the Alabama part, but oh so cute! And I love her frying-pan banjo. This little girl is just always happy and smiling - and usually into mischief. Such a precious little ray of sunshine. She goes through the house singing loudly most of the day, even though she almost never gets the words quite right. One of her favorite songs is a Patch the Pirate song named "Call the Wambulance!"

Who needs TV anyway??!?

  3. That is so cute. It reminds me of homeschooler Mary Pride's book-All the Way Home-chapter 8-Is There Life After TV? Then there's a book I want to read,The Plug-in Drug by Marie Winn(1985). answersingenesis has a book, Remote Control by Carl Kerby that we have. Amusing Ourselves to Death by Neil Postman-1985 is one we also have. My children had the Wee Sing Bible Songs, etc. CDs and songbooks.

  4. At weesing.com they have Wee Sing in the Car CD and songbook that has the song Oh Susanna(approximately $10). Rainbowresource sells a few in the series for a little less.

  5. That was very cute. Is your name pronounced "Susanna", or do you pronounce the "z" sound as well?

  8. My father and siblings had Käthe Kruse dolls, because my granfather bought the dolls for his children in Hamburg, this must be at least 80+ years ago.
As grandchildren (I am 62) we played with the dolls because they were timeless, lovely and obviously a very good quality.
Becky reminds me of these famous beautiful dolls'.

  11. Hahahahaha...I wonder if she associates the Suzanna in the song with you and thinks about all the times you've (probably) had to give her a band-aid! How old is Becky now? She seems older than 2, more like 3-ish...Anyway, enjoy her - and all of them!

Also - as an aside, thanks for your response in a previous post about the sleep issue. I completely agree with you that the issue has become more my worry about falling asleep than anything else. (It didn't start that way, but that's what it has become.) So, I have found it helpful to tell myself (as you suggested) that, even if I don't get a great night of sleep, just resting in bed with eyes closed is helpful. Wish me luck!

  13. LOVE LOVE LOVE the banjo!!! What a doll, this is priceless! I love the videos you are posting...does it take FOREVER to load them? For some reason whenever I try I cannot get them to load. I usually sit there and wait forever and then finally it tells me that something erred.

    Well, Super cute!!
